We are pleased that the European Innovation Council has granted €1.45 million from the EIC-Transition to bring hiPSC-3D cardiac strips into a high throughput setting in this project. These funds will be used to develop an assay platform that will allow the readout of physiologically relevant and functional outputs that can, for the first time, be performed at an earlier stage of the commercial drug discovery process. Assaying such relevant readouts in human tissue during drug discovery screens will increase the chances of drugs successfully progressing through human clinical trials.
